What to wear in 2010

Denim
Its back with a vengeance, denim in 2010 isn’t here just to be a complement but a top-to-toe look, many designers such as D&G which featured it in their recent Milan fashion show and Ralph Lauren and Stella McCartney incorporated lots of denim into their collections.

Floral’s
2009 featured heavily on masculine tailoring now in 2010 you get to bring out your feminine side with floral prints back in fashion this spring. Lots of pretty ladylike dresses, vests and jackets made an appearance on the catwalk recently.

Sorbet Shades
Heading out of winter and into spring in 2010 you will find a refreshing splash of pastels after a winter of tough urban looks and bold eighties colours. With baby doll dresses, bloomer shorts and co-ordinating accessories in a palette of watercolour shades like lilac, mint, lemon and rose.

Lace & sequins
Although both have been a staple in this seasons winter wardrobe both styles will be making the transition in to spring in 2010 incorporated with the new trends, both mixed in with pastel shades for the ultimate feminine look and also teamed with denim for an edgier contrast, also wearing underwear as outerwear as a few celebrities have dabbled with this season will also feature.

Navy
A contrast to the pastel colours navy takes on a nautical theme for 2010 mixing polka dots and stripes with smart tailoring and kooky accessories.

Clashing prints
Fear not if you love all the new styles of spring 2010 you can wear them all at once as clashing prints is going to be big so you can let your imagination run wild mixing floral’s and navy pinstripes to create an individual yet stylish look.

Your chance to own some of Elton John’s wardrobe.

Music legend Elton John’s flamboyant wardrobe is currently on sale at the Flower Cellars in London’s Covent Garden, for their fifth Out The Closet pop-up shop so now you can have your chance to own a piece of his eccentric sense of style, all in the name of charity. The sale will see the largest collection of clothing and accessories belonging to the singing star and his partner David Furnish.

The prices range from £10 to £2,000 and include pieces by Versace, Christian Dior, Prada, Alexander McQueen, D&G and Jean Paul Gaultier, as well as sunglasses, luggage and belts. Shoppers will also be able to buy some of the costumes that he has used over the course of his musical career, like pairs of the singer’s sky-high platform shoes and the over-sized spectacles.

The last time Elton John and his partner held such a sale was back in 2002 in London and on that occasion they raised £400,000 after selling 15,000 items.
Elton John said, “We always get a fantastic response from the public with these sales, I think the idea that the items we all buy and enjoy can help someone in dire need, particularly at this time of year, really strikes a chord.”

David Furnish added, “The new stock in Out The Closet represents the largest clearout that we have ever had, and it’s exciting to think that our clothes will draw a whole new demographic into our shop. For the first time we have sunglasses in-store and other accessories that will make great Christmas gifts.”

The proceeds of the sale will go to his AID’s Charity, the Elton John Aids Foundation.

The sale which is currently running and restocked everyday will end on the 19th December with a clearance sale.

Embellishment

Sequins, studs, diamantes and beads have been adorning everything from blazers to trousers, shoes and bags to jewellery and hair accessories this season. Embellishment can be kept minimal like a diamante brooch on a plain jumper or detailing on the collar of a plain vest top.

You can also make a statement with a stunning sequinned dress as many celebrities have been seen wearing recently, ideal for a Christmas party of a night out and metallic colours are also a key trend this season.

Sequined Dress

Embellishment is set to be a style perennial and you can easily keep up with different pieces from something as simple as a beaded hair band or studded belt to a piece of statement jewellery.
