Protect your hair

Our hair has to withstand a lot, from brushing and styling to the environment around us, there is so much that can damage it, normally things that are part of our everyday routine that we don’t often think about. Every time that you style your hair you damage it, especially when using your hairdryer, ghd hair straighteners and curling tongs, even just brushing your hair damages it.

The best way to start looking after your hair is to use the right shampoo and conditioners, your salon will offer a great line of shampoos and conditioners that you can use to improve the strength and condition of your hair. Although these may be more expensive than other brands found in your chemist or supermarket they are normally more concentrated so they do last a lot longer meaning you do get value for money, your stylist will also be able to tell you what you need for your hair type.

When it comes to styling you also need to make sure you have the right tools and that they are suitable for the job, as with shampoo and conditioner you should also make sure you use good quality styling products even if it means spending a little more on your curling irons, straightening irons and diffusers as it will help you create great looking styles without hurting your hair. Although using good quality shampoo and conditioner will help repair your hair if damaged it does not offer enough protection from heat of your styling tools, you should always use a protector spray such as ghd thermal protector before styling to give you hair protection from the heat.

Finally you also need to protect your hair from any damage caused by the environment such as harmful UV rays from the sun, pollution and weather conditions, you can get sprays that help keep your hair fresh and most of all protected, these are great to spray on before you go out and will normally need a boost during the day.

Keep your hair looking hot over summer

There are many elements that can damage your hair over a course of a year, however during the summer your hair tends to suffer the most, whether your stay at home or go abroad somewhere hot for a holiday. Weather, temperature, constant styling with curling tongs and ghd straightening irons, dry air condition plus a lot more can have a detrimental effect, however there are a few things you can do to prevent too much damage.

When your away your hair is normally the last thing you think of with so much else going on but just like your skin your hair does need protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays, not only will leave your hair dry and damaged but also burn your scalp if you are not careful. It’s always advisable to wear a hat to protect your head however if you really don’t want to do that you can use a hair sunscreen spray to protect your hair and make sure you can apply sunscreen on as much of your face as possible.

A good tip before you go the pool is to drench your hair in fresh water to prevent damage from chlorine or salt and after you come out don’t forget to reapply your hair protector spray and sunscreen.  After a day in the pool and sunbathing you need to wash and condition your hair to keep it clean and add back moisture it may have lost during the day, if you have bleached hair it’s advisable to use a deep conditioning treatment on your hair after your holiday to give it a boost.

When it comes to drying your hair you need to take great care with it because when hair is wet it is more brittle and more prone to damage, so you should not vigorously dry your hair with a towel as this roughens up your hair cuticle giving a dull tangled appearance. Instead dab it dry and comb through with a wide-toothed comb and before you blow dry your hair apply ghd protector spray, which as the name suggests protects your hair from the heat.

Essential tools for your hair

If you want to keep your hair healthy and looking at its best you need to make sure you have the correct tools and products to do this, if not you leave your hair open to damage which can make it dry and brittle. Many people think that keeping your hair looking good is an expense however spending money on good products initially will reduce the need to spend a lot of money in the future.

Tools:

1. A good brush should be a no brainer, the higher quality your hairbrush, the healthier your hair will be, the best brushes have rubber bases with boar’s head bristles, they allow bristles to flex, cutting down on the damage to your hair.

2. A wide tooth comb should always be used on wet hair, not a hair brush as the brush will damage your hair when wet.

3. Hair dryers have come a long way in the past few years and many of the new modern ones now have added extras such as Ionic conditioning to help protect your hair. The quicker you can dry your hair the better, less exposure to heat will cause less damage.

4. Straightening irons have become a staple to many women’s hair care, they too like hair dryers have improved over the last few years to help reduce damage caused, ghd hair straighteners offer some of the best and their technology has been specifically designed to reduce damaged caused by everyday styling.

Products:

1. The right shampoo for your hair type is important it’s all about the ingredients you need to make sure they are tailored to your hair type, just like products for your skin. Also using more shampoo will net clean your hair better, a smaller two pence size in your palm is enough for medium length hair, a little less for shorter hair and a little more for longer hair.

2. Conditioner is important for all hair types, it re introduces essential oils that are lost through styling and washing as well as chemicals, it also help protect your hair from them as well.  Many salon professionals recommend using an intensive conditioner at least once every two weeks, more if your hair is constantly styled.

3. Heat Protector is important to use when blow drying your hair as well as straightening it or curling it, the damaged caused by the heat from these styling tools will be reduced if you apply a heat protector such as ghd thermal protector before styling.

Waxing before your beach holiday

There are many things to think about before you go on your beach holiday like currency conversion, correct plugs, suntan lotion, bug spray and whether you have packed enough bikinis, but it’s important to also think about hair removal. There’s nothing worse than sprouting unsightly hairs when your laid out in your bikini sunbathing, it can make you feel a little self conscious.

A professional wax makes a huge difference to a simple razor it also means that you do not need to worry about shaving while you are away. It can be nice before you go away on your beach holiday to indulge in some pampering, so you feel glamorous with a manicure and a pedicure as well as going to a professional waxing London specialist, you will come out looking a million dollars as well as giving you a confidence boost.

The best thing about waxing London, before you go is that you will not get any re growth the whole time you are out there, because when you wax you remove the hair from the root, so it takes a longer time for hair to grow again, anywhere from 3-8 weeks. Which means you can relax on the beach drink in hand with lovely smooth and glowing skin without having to worry about body hair showing up.
