Ethical clothing

Ethical fashion covers the whole process of producing clothing, from design, production, retail and purchase, making sure working conditions are up to standard avoiding exploitation and using fair trade as well as using sustainable materials, protecting the environment and animal welfare. Over the past decade concerns have been raised into the damaged that is being done from the over production of cheap cloths not just on the plant but to society as well with many campaigners urging people to think more carefully on the choices of clothing.

The UK alone throws away 1 million tonnes of clothing every year due to the low costs and the disposable nature of high street fashion, now though we are seeing much more choice in ethical clothing filtering onto the highstreet. There are also many ways to design your own ethical t-shirts with online retailers offering t-shirt printing services using ethically sourced t-shirts, polo shirts and hoodies. People are also encouraged to keep hold of their clothes even thought they feel it may have gone out of fashion, you always see trends repeated after a couple of years and it’s an ideal way to recycle clothing you may not have worn for a while.
