Vogue Designer Fashion Fund Shortlist

The shortlist of designers for next year’s vogue designer fashion fund is now out.  The people who have been shortlisted are Nathan Saunders, Mary Katrantzou and Roksanda Ilincic.  The list of nominees also included Meadham Kirchhoff, Marios Schwab, Nicholas Kirkwood, Zoe Jordan and Richard Nicoll.  The shortlist has recently been compiled by a remarkable panel, which featured British Vogue editor, Alexandra Shulman, Joan Burstein, Caroline Rush, Marigay McKee and Samantha Cameron.  Shulman has stated her excitement for such a talented group of people.

This impressive award has progressed into its third year, and offers a great kick-start to the winner’s fashion career.  The winner, who is to be announced in March 2012 via that month’s issue of Vogue magazine, is set to be awarded £200,000, in addition to mentoring within the fashion industry.  This money will certainly bring the financial backing needed to make it big in the world of fashion. 

The eight lucky runners up will also be given mentoring by top names within the fashion industry.  Such mentoring will enable the designers to grow internationally, bringing innovation and fresh new ideas to the world of fashion.  People who have previously won this prestigious fashion award include Christopher Kane and Erdem.

It is clear that the standard of those shortlisted is high.  They all have exceptional talent within the world of British fashion today.  BFC chairman, Harold Tillman, states that those shortlisted have “enhanced the capital’s profile as a centre of fashion innovation”.

The world of fashion is buzzing about this exciting award, and everyone is waiting to find out who will win.
